The 2026 World Cup stadiums are spread across three countries: 11 in the United States, three in Mexico and two in Canada.

There will be 16 venues in total, each with specific conditions that can directly affect how matches are played -and, as a result, how betting markets behave.

Altitude of 2,240 metres at Estadio Azteca, temperatures above 38°C in Dallas and Miami, and retractable roofs in cities such as Houston all matter. For anyone betting on goals, handicaps or match results, understanding the venues is more than useful. It is essential.

Below is the complete guide to every 2026 World Cup stadium, including capacity, pitch type, altitude, average temperature and a betting note for each venue.

Mexico World Cup Stadiums

Estadio Azteca, Mexico City

  • Capacity: ~83,000

  • Altitude: 2,240m

  • Pitch: Natural grass

  • Matches: Opening match, group stage and knockout games

Estadio Azteca will open a World Cup for the third time, something no other stadium in the world has done. The opening match on 11 June will be Mexico vs South Africa.

Opened in 1966, the stadium is undergoing renovation work ahead of the tournament, including upgrades to the stands and access infrastructure.

The major factor here is altitude. At 2,240 metres above sea level, the air contains roughly 25% less oxygen. Teams used to playing at a lower altitude can begin to feel the physical impact within the first 30 minutes.

South American teams, especially those from Andean regions, usually have a stronger record in these conditions than European sides.

Expert betting note:

Under 2.5 goals markets are especially relevant for matches at Estadio Azteca. The physical demands of altitude can slow down teams that are not adapted. Sides that rely on high pressing, including several European teams, may lose intensity after half-time.

Estadio Akron, Guadalajara

  • Capacity: ~48,000

  • Altitude: ~1,560m

  • Pitch: Natural grass

  • Matches: Group stage

Home of Chivas Guadalajara, Estadio Akron is known for its design, which blends the stands into the city’s landscape.

It is the smallest of Mexico’s three World Cup venues and will host only group-stage matches. Its altitude of 1,560 metres remains a factor, though less extreme than at Estadio Azteca.

Expert betting note:

This is a mid-altitude venue. Before backing over 2.5 goals, assess the physical profile of the teams involved. Sides arriving from sea-level qualifiers may struggle more in the second half.

Estadio BBVA, Monterrey

  • Capacity: ~53,000

  • Altitude: ~540m

  • Pitch: Natural grass

  • Matches: Group stage

Located at the foot of Cerro de la Silla, Estadio BBVA is one of the most visually striking venues of the 2026 World Cup.

With an altitude of around 540 metres and summer temperatures close to 34°C in June, dry heat is the main weather factor. The home of Monterrey’s Rayados also offers strong infrastructure and partially covered stands.

Expert betting note:

Dry heat and low altitude make the impact less severe than in Mexico City. However, matches played during the hottest part of the day may produce lower intensity and more late goals. Live betting on goals after the 75th minute could offer value.

Canada World Cup Stadiums

BMO Field, Toronto

  • Capacity: ~45,000 with temporary expansion

  • Altitude: ~76m

  • Pitch: Hybrid

  • Matches: Group stage

BMO Field is the home of Toronto FC in Major League Soccer and will be the smallest stadium at the 2026 World Cup.

For the tournament, temporary stands will increase capacity from around 30,000 to roughly 45,000. Toronto’s June weather is mild, with temperatures around 20°C, which should support high-intensity matches.

The hybrid pitch, which combines natural grass with synthetic fibres, is less common at World Cups and may influence ball speed and surface recovery.

Expert betting note:

Toronto offers favourable conditions for open, high-tempo football. Both teams to score and over goals markets are worth monitoring.

BC Place, Vancouver

  • Capacity: ~54,500

  • Altitude: Close to sea level

  • Pitch: Artificial

  • Matches: Group stage and Round of 16

BC Place has a retractable roof and also hosted events during the 2010 Winter Olympics. It is the only 2026 World Cup venue with a FIFA-certified artificial surface.

The synthetic pitch can affect ball speed, passing style and injury risk. Vancouver’s June weather is comfortable, with average temperatures around 18°C and no major climate extremes.

Expert betting note:

Artificial turf usually favours a faster game and may increase goal frequency compared with wet natural grass. Match previews for games staged here should be checked closely before entering goal markets.

United States World Cup Stadiums

MetLife Stadium, New Jersey

  • Capacity: ~82,500

  • Altitude: ~10m

  • Pitch: New natural grass

  • Matches: Group stage and Final, 19 July

The 2026 World Cup final will be played at MetLife Stadium on 19 July. The venue, home to the NFL’s New York Giants and New York Jets, has replaced its artificial surface with natural grass for the tournament.

In June and July, New Jersey temperatures are usually around 25°C. Brazil will open its campaign at MetLife on 13 June against Morocco.

Expert betting note:

MetLife offers neutral betting conditions. There is no altitude, no extreme heat and a new natural pitch. It should be one of the most balanced venues of the tournament for technical match analysis.

AT&T Stadium, Dallas

  • Capacity: ~94,000

  • Altitude: ~190m

  • Pitch: Natural grass

  • Matches: Group stage, knockouts and Semi-final

AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will be the largest venue at the 2026 World Cup, with an official capacity of around 94,000.

The stadium has a retractable roof and a suspended video board covering more than 2,300 square metres, one of the largest in the world. It will host nine matches, including a semi-final.

Dallas regularly sees temperatures above 38°C in June and July.

Expert betting note:

Extreme heat is the main factor. For early-afternoon local kick-offs, under goals and high substitution markets may be relevant. Night matches should offer significantly better playing conditions.

SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles

  • Capacity: ~70,000

  • Altitude: ~30m

  • Pitch: Natural grass

  • Matches: Group stage and Round of 16

Opened in 2020, SoFi Stadium is the newest venue for the 2026 World Cup. Its field sits around 30 metres below ground level to meet height restrictions near the Los Angeles International Airport.

The stadium features a translucent roof and one of the world’s largest video systems, an 80-million-pixel oval screen. Los Angeles usually has mild June weather, with temperatures around 26°C.

The United States will open its campaign here on 12 June against Paraguay.

Expert betting note:

SoFi offers neutral conditions. Altitude is not a factor, and there are no major weather concerns. This is a strong venue for analysis based mainly on team quality, tactics and form.

Hard Rock Stadium, Miami

  • Capacity: ~65,000

  • Altitude: ~2m

  • Pitch: Natural grass

  • Matches: Group stage and Third-place match, 18 July

The third-place match will be played at Hard Rock Stadium on 18 July. The venue is home to the Miami Dolphins, hosts the Miami Open tennis tournament and sits inside the circuit used for the Miami Formula 1 Grand Prix.

The stadium has a partial roof. Miami in June and July combines heat of around 32°C with high humidity, often pushing the heat index above 40°C.

Brazil will play here in the group stage against Scotland on 24 June.

Expert betting note:

Humid heat is more demanding than dry heat. Teams that rely on high pressing may suffer more in Miami than in Dallas. Second-half goal markets and live betting can carry value in games affected by heat and humidity.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta

  • Capacity: ~75,000

  • Altitude: ~300m

  • Pitch: Natural grass

  • Matches: Group stage, knockouts and Semi-final

Mercedes-Benz Stadium is known for its flower-shaped retractable roof and low food-price policy, a model often cited in U.S. stadium management.

The venue will host eight matches, including a semi-final. Atlanta’s June weather is hot and humid, with average temperatures around 30°C.

Expert betting note:

Atlanta combines humid heat with a slight altitude. A semi-final here could become physically demanding. Markets involving regular-time results and extra time may be worth watching.

Gillette Stadium, Boston

  1. Capacity: ~65,000

  2. Altitude: ~25m

  3. Pitch: Natural grass

  4. Matches: Group stage and knockouts

Gillette Stadium underwent a US$250 million renovation between 2023 and 2024. It is located in Foxborough, around 46km from Boston.

Boston offers some of the mildest conditions among the U.S. venues, with average June temperatures around 22°C. The stadium will host seven matches, including two knockout games.

Expert betting note:

This is one of the best venues for technical football at the tournament. There is no heat concern and no altitude factor. It is a favourable setting for high-tempo matches and goal-based markets.

Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City

  • Capacity: ~76,000

  • Altitude: ~250m

  • Pitch: Natural grass

  • Matches: Group stage and knockouts

Arrowhead Stadium is listed by Guinness World Records as the loudest stadium in the world, with a record of 142.2 decibels. It is home to the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs.

The venue will host six matches, including two knockout games. Argentina, Algeria, Ecuador, the Netherlands and Austria are already confirmed for matches here. Kansas City temperatures in June are usually around 30°C.

Expert betting note:

A loud atmosphere and moderate heat are the key factors. In knockout matches, visiting teams may find the noise difficult to manage. Backing the stronger favourite could be a useful angle here.

NRG Stadium, Houston

  • Capacity: ~72,000

  • Altitude: ~14m

  • Pitch: Natural grass

  • Matches: Group stage and knockouts

NRG Stadium has a retractable roof covering more than 11,600 square metres. Opened in 2002, it has hosted Super Bowls and is home to the Houston Texans.

Houston is one of the hottest and most humid U.S. host cities in summer, with June temperatures around 34°C and high relative humidity. Germany and the Ivory Coast are scheduled to play matches here.

Expert betting note:

The retractable roof gives organisers some protection against extreme heat. Even when closed, internal temperatures can remain high. Live markets in night games are likely to be more balanced.

Levi’s Stadium, San Francisco

  • Capacity: ~71,000

  • Altitude: ~15m

  • Pitch: Natural grass

  • Matches: Group stage and knockouts

Home of the San Francisco 49ers, Levi’s Stadium hosted the opening match of the 2016 Copa América Centenario and Super Bowl 50.

The stadium is located in Santa Clara, in Silicon Valley, where June temperatures are milder than in the southern United States, averaging around 22°C.

Expert betting note:

Levi’s Stadium should support intense football. There are no major climate concerns, making it a strong venue for betting based on squad quality, tactical matchups and recent form.

Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia

  • Capacity: ~70,000

  • Altitude: ~7m

  • Pitch: Natural grass

  • Matches: Group stage and knockouts

Lincoln Financial Field is home to the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles. Opened in 2003, it has an interesting first-match story: Ronaldinho assisted a goal for Manchester United in the stadium’s inaugural friendly.

Philadelphia’s June temperatures average around 27°C. One knockout match here will take place on 4 July, U.S. Independence Day.

Brazil will face Haiti here in the second round of the group stage on 19 June.

Expert betting note:

Philadelphia offers moderate weather conditions. There is no altitude factor and no extreme heat concern.

Lumen Field, Seattle

  • Capacity: ~69,000

  • Altitude: ~10m

  • Pitch: Natural grass

  • Matches: Group stage and knockouts

Lumen Field is home to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL and the Seattle Sounders in MLS. Seattle has the coolest climate among the U.S. host cities, with June temperatures around 18°C.

Belgium and Egypt are scheduled to play group-stage matches here.

Expert betting note:

Seattle’s cooler conditions should benefit teams that play at a high tempo. It is a strong venue to monitor for over 2.5 goals markets.

What the 2026 World Cup Venues Mean for Betting

Several climate and venue factors could have a clear impact on sports betting markets during the 2026 World Cup.

Altitude: Estadio Azteca and Estadio Akron

Altitude is one of the most important factors in this tournament. At 2,240 metres, Estadio Azteca can accelerate fatigue, especially after the 60th minute.

European teams without prior acclimatisation may lose intensity in the second half. Historically, under 2.5 goals has been a relevant market in matches played at high altitude.

Humid Heat: Miami and Atlanta

Humid heat is often more draining than dry heat. It affects stamina, recovery and the ability to press aggressively.

Teams that defend high up the pitch may drop off in the second half. Live betting on goals from the 70th minute onwards can be worth monitoring in these conditions.

Dry Heat: Dallas and Houston

Dry heat is still a factor, especially in early local kick-offs. The impact is generally lower than in Miami, but it can still reduce intensity.

Night matches in Dallas and Houston should be much closer to neutral conditions.
