The dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by Manchester United last Sunday was due to the irregularity of his appointment three years ago. The flaws within the club's determination with the manager's credentials were regularly doubted throughout his time at Man Utd as the majority of the players didn't make any significant improvement on the field.

Although after the devastating losses last month to the powerful rivals Liverpool (5-0) and Manchester City (2-0), Man Utd still stuck with Solskjaer.

While Norwich and Astin Villa took the two-week international break to sack and recruit new managers, the red's management waited up to the 4-1 fall at Watford last Saturday, which is the fifth loss in seven Premier League titles. This finally led United to decide that the dugout required some major changes.

Manchester United stated that "Ole is and will always be a Manchester United legend and we regret having come up with this difficult decision."

Ole Said That He Couldn't Get the Results They Needed

The thing that got Solskjaer into Manchester United in the first place was his legendary status as Jose Mourinho's successor and kept him in the post for a while without any trophy wins.

In an interview with United's in-house TV channel, Solskjaer said that he wanted to take the next step to challenge the league and win trophies. He also added that, unfortunately, he couldn't get the results they needed and it's his time to step aside.

Who Could Replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Man United Manager?

This three-year contract extension that the club's owners give to Solskjaer before the season is eventually terminated.

"Even though the past few weeks have been disappointing, no one should question all the hard work and effort he has put over the last three years to rebuild the foundations for the long-term goals," Manchester United said. “We didn’t express any sincere gratitude for everything he has done for the club as a manager and we wish him further success for the future.”

After Manchester United took a heavy blow last Saturday at Watford and paid the price with losing Solskjaer, the club is going to need a new manager. The most likely coaches to replace Solskjaer are Zinedine Zidane and Brendan Rodgers.

Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine Zidane seems like the best choice, especially when you look at what United needs right now. He has all the experience in managing star players and played as a striker and earned plenty of trophies.

Zidane is not currently in a job and there are a few familiar faces in the club that he will work with, such as Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Brendan Rodgers

Rodgers has shown some outstanding work with all the teams he managed while also making sure his team plays entertaining football. Rodgers would be a decent manager, even though he had a divisive reputation.

Today, sportsbooks have Rodgers as the favourite to cover at Manchester United, and the ones in charge in Manchester also admire his work.

Erik Ten Hag

Hag is currently a manager in Ajax and is known as an outstanding coach. He almost led his team to a dream Champions League final. He would fit in perfectly at United and bring tears of joy for Donny van de Beek.

Unfortunately for Man Utd, Hag recently stated that he wouldn't be leaving Ajax any in the near future. But you'll never know if Solskjaer will last until the end of the season.
