The football world is welcoming a new era, with a whole new generation of players setting their foot on the field for the first time, presenting themselves as proud members of their respective clubs. While Christiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s dominance in the football space will soon come to an end, we have new rising stars we can look forward to and may even offer football fans something more in the near future.

When you think of “Best young football players,” you may think about the young men who’s taken the world by storm in previous seasons, including Kylian Mbappe, Jadon Sancho and Erling Braut Haaland. These players are, in fact, old news as the football world is moving faster than ever before. Despite their talent and professionalism, 2022 and beyond are welcoming even younger footballers who are already making headlines at senior levels. Let’s look at who they are, where they are now and what’s in store for them in upcoming matches in 2022 and the years ahead.

Youssoufa Moukoko

This German/Cameroonian native has been the leading star in the youth tournament. In the Bundesliga U17, he has scored 90 goals in the past 56 games, with 16 assists in total.

He’ll be celebrating his 17th birthday on November 20th, 2021. He made his debut for the main Borussia team a day after his 16th birthday. Youssoufa is later known as the youngest goalscorer in the German football league, with 14 matches and two goals scored in the 2020/2021 season.

Dominik Szoboszlai

The 20-year-old Hungarian has made a sensation from his performance for Salzburg and the national team. His value has gone up 50 times during the past three years. This midfielder’s goal against Iceland was the key moment for Hungary to qualify for Euro 2020.

Dominik has outperformed the teams from Austria, which means he will sooner or later transition to RB Leipzig, one of the fastest-growing clubs in Europe. Here, with Jesse Metsch’s guidance and in the place of other top players like Austrian Konrad Laimer and Spaniard Dani Olmo, Dominik’s skill will quickly be put to use and develop in a short period.

Giovanni Reyna

Reyna is another Dortmund prodigy, first appearing for the Borussia team in late 2019 and scoring a goal a few games later in the playoffs for the Champions League.

The Dortmund midfielder has played 47 matches and four goals in total. The 19-year-old made his debut for the US national team in the fall of 2020 and is worth €30 million by Transfermarkt.

Jamal Musiala

The teenage midfielder has been making headlines as a key player for the German national team and Bayern Munich. Jamal Musiala is technically impressive with a handful of skills up his sleeves, and he can score goals from midfield and is a gifted creator.
